31 Indented Firewall Carburetor I know some of you will find this request just heresy, but unfortunately my Cabriolet did not come with the correct side bowl carburetor. Unfortunately, I can't get comfortable spending $300.00 for the correct carburetor when I have other Zeniths that run just great. I have a side bowl filter but find that they cannot be bolted to a standard Zenith. There is interference between filter and the lower casting of the carburetor. Has anyone used a brass fitting of some sort that would allow me to connect the filter to the top of an earlier Zenith casting?
It would look correct to a casual observer but do the job until I find the correct side bowl style carburetor. Any ideas? Ed |
Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor See page 560 in the Service Bulletins, shows how to install the late filter on
early carburetor. Install two A-22333 washers (1/2x3/64x3/4 plain fiber washer) between the carburetor and filter. |
Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor Good to know thanks

Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor For those of us that don't have the service bulletin, can you provide a copy or attachment here?

Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor A side note: If you have access to a side bowl carb for $300, buy it. I saw one at Hershey for $600. The top cover is the only difference between earlier Zenith's and a side bowl. If you can find one you can convert any Zenith.

Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor I have 3 very nice side bowl Zeniths. Now I have an idea of what they're bringing now. :)

It may have been a Zenith-3. |
Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor Every Model "A" owner-driver should have a copy of the service bulletins for the Model "A". The service bulletins show and tell what did not work on the Model "A" and the changes made to fix the issues.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try and locate one. |
Re: 31 Indented Firewall Carburetor I have the yellow hard bound book of bulletins. I would buy the larger print version if doing it again.
