condencer 1934 I am having problems with a condensor i have tried over 10 (bench test ) new coil . weak or no spark. I saw the sugesten for napa ih 200 . over $30
any ideas ? How can you test one ? |
Re: condencer 1934 Nick, I'm sure you know that "new" coils are crapola.
Do you have a Skip Haney rebuilt coil to use? And how about your input to that coil? Do you have 3 1/2 to 4 volts input? Are you running your test with a distributor so you get a proper dwell for your test? Do you spend all your time on Fordbarn? :D |
Re: condencer 1934 yes no yes yes

Re: condencer 1934 I just went through the same situation with my 33 Cab. ThirdGen Auto in Tennessee sells a condenser for eight bucks that works with a modification to the ground strap. Put the new one in and it works just fine. Keep a couple on hand because these engines don’t run worth crap with a failing condenser.

Re: condencer 1934 In order to test a condenser, you need a special meter that is designed to charge them and then check their ability to charge/discharge . . . with mf readings to show you how well they're working. I have one of these test meters, comes in very handy when working on these old ignitions.

Re: condencer 1934 "Such a fine sight to see-Its a Girl, My Lord, in a Flatbed Ford slowin' down to take a look at me."
It is quite clear to me that whoever wrote the lyrics to that song didn't fully understand what he was writing about. It is obvious that not many girls would slow down to look at you if you were driving a "flatbed" Ford. Capish? |

Capish?[/QUOTE I agree Lawson - I wöuld love to change it to "flathead" but Glen Frys line is so iconic it would be sort of like changing Lincolns Gettysberg speech! Beside girls don't slow down to look at me anymore (if ever) they plant the gas pedal instead |
