rear axel sleeving

Good morning all, I'm going to pull the left rear axel housing to have the bearing surface turned and sleeved. It's been 30 years since I've done this, any new tricks I should know about? Tim

If you've done it before theres probably nothing new. Just make sure you get the proper hardened sleeves and someone reputable working the lathe and fitting. One of the worst problems you may face is if the end seals dont pop out and get stuck and you smash the outer off them.. then its a matter of making tools like the ones shown:rolleyes:. With the new ones take the "paint" off the outer edge and perhaps a bit of copper coat or such so that in the future they come out ok.

I’ve got one now that needs a new sleeve. I don’t have a lathe large enough to handle it. Gonna send it to John @ Columbia Two Speed Parts.
