Insurance............thumbs down JCTaylor

So Ive had insurance with JC for more years then I can remember. Asked
to add on my newly acquired 1940 ford pu that I just bought from a fellow barn member.......

I was denied. Was told it isnt in good enough condition for them to insure.
Funny how for the last 40 years, without even one claim, everything I owned was good enough for them. Is this the way things are today or did I just get a dud of a person to work with?

Well now I need to search for another carrier. Hagerty grundy collectors etc.
I always touted how good JC Taylor seemed to be. Not anymore.

Buyer beware...........my rant.

I've used Taylor for many years no problem, how about showing the pics you sent them to see what it looks like.

I used American Family for years. When I had completed a lot of work on my truck, I asked them to raise the value and they said that I had to get looked at by the only guy in town on their list for an appraisal. The guy charged $150
I called Hagerty and had it insured for the value I stated. Chap

I had JC TAYLOR since 1988 with no claims .Rates kept going up each year, reaching over $600 last year.
Changed to Haggerty and saved $300 for same coverage.

Feeling all warm and tingly for many years without a claim is no recommendation at all.
How they treat you when you make a claim is what you happy campers don’t know.

I had JC TAYLOR from 1975 till 1997 when I converted my 1966 Mustang from a sedan to a convertible ( all factory specs) they said my premiums was going from $90 a year to $354 a year on the mustang. I switched to State Farm on all my antique cars until 3 years ago when I went to insure a 1951 Crosley Super Sport that is all original but not show room quality. I was told the same thing that they would not insure it until it was restored. I said not as long as I own it. I then switched all my antique cars to Grundy.

Bean Counters? After 40 some years with State Farm and one “at fault” weather related no one else involved accident it was good bye. I could of understood raising the rate or increasing the deductible but evidently they have more business than they care for so they will pick and chose among the policy numbers (as opposed to the person) to maximize profits.

No thought to the added stress they impose on the person associated with that account. Not only did I have to mentally work through the accident, deal with the aftermath of picking up our belongings from our totaled travel trailer lying on its side in a cold winter ditch, replacing the lost personal items that were only covered by our home owners policy with a high insurance company sheltering mandated by law deductible, I have to find an insurance company with some understanding and compassion.

Gosh, I would venture to say that ALL insurance companies go only by what is written in the policy coverage with zero concern about compassion and understanding. Hope I am wrong. I wish you all the very best of success.

American Family. What a joke. I worked for corporate as a damage appraiser for about 1.5 years, until I left that industry.
Truth be told, they’re all pretty bad….. State Farm, Farmers, etc. Lots of claims experience dealing with all those clowns.

They all seem to have very large budgets for advertising their "Customer Service", though.

Perhaps to make the point, the type of coverage is not mentioned. If it was for other than fire and theft, your photo does not scream road worthy.

Give Hagerty a call. They have some special programs.
Have insured 5 cars fully covered with them, one collision repaired. Fair priced, great service.
Added my 35 pickup at market value for $65/yr
The person at Hagerty asked me what color I was going to paint it. I told him i had already painted it an sanded most of it off :-)
He chuckled, I was serious.......

Hagerty has a $500 deductible, guys! I got burned by them. Totaled a fixable lightly wrecked '33 cpe. Tried to 'Brand' the title even! Never used them again. Refused their 'total', and fixed it myself- should sue. Oregon has a State Ins Office for disputes. Newc
