White Gas

Any thoughts on adding White gas to a gas tank feeding on stock flathead? Are there any benefits at all?

I believe it is pretty low octane. It's incredibly expensive. Think some people used to run it through the carb before storage because it doesn't gum up like regular gas, it just evaporates. When I was a kid, they sold it at a few rural gas stations.

Re: White Gas

Amoco gas is/was known as 'white' gas.
Marketed as lead free (supposedly) to promote cleaner burning, it used silver instead of lead as an additive.
At the time I remember using it, it was high test/high octane only.
.
Don't waste time or money using it, never could document any advantage.

Re: White Gas

Coleman lantern fuel doesn't have any of the additives normal pump gas does. It doesn't leave a sooty residue, and is very low octane

Re: White Gas

If you are talking about Coleman fuel the last time I looked it was about $18.00 a gallon.
