Trying to help newbe who is buying a '34 find a copy.Anyone has info on the reprint?


Located several copies but shipping to France -over $70.My friend passed.

That's what I have heard, and I'm assuming it will be a time consuming project.

There has been lots going on in my life of late, much of it time consuming and much of it not of my choosing. Beyond that, the ongoing pandemic-related closure of the Benson Ford Research Center is a real bummer as I need to spend several weeks in there to obtain some additional information that is unavailable anywhere else in the world and which I consider fundamental. In the meantime, as with the '32s, I am learning a lot from my hands-on restoration of three of the subject cars, plus Michael's dismantled '34 station wagon parked in my hobby building

I've accumulated a lot of informative photos and Dave Slater of Australia long ago finished a draft of the important and extensive section of the book devoted to the unique Australian '33 and '34 bodies. As with the '32 book, the scope of the coverage will be international, not just domestic, and include information about the commercial vehicles and big trucks.

Likely I will not have time to finish a rough draft prior to next year's Grand National Meet. If I am still among the living, that will likely occur during the winter of 2023-4. I regret that it has taken what seems like forever to finish what I have started. In my next life I will be better organized and raise my hand less often.

Count me among those that will patiently wait for however long it takes you to complete this book.
I am so very confident the end result will be worth any wait.

I understand volunteering most of a persons time... I spent 40 years as a volunteer firefighter. I cannot overstate my appreciation of your efforts and generosity.

Dave has contributed greatly to the V-8 world. Without dedicated V-8ers like him we would be without a lot of good accurate information. The books put out by the Early Ford V-8 club would not exist without these dedicated volunteers. Kudos to all of them.

I agree 100% TJ!! These EFV-8 C/A books are all great resources, and I'm happy to own a copy of every one that's been published so far. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've read, re-read and referenced "The 1935-36 Ford Book, for domestic passenger cars, written by Don Rogers and John Swanberg.

I'm also looking forward to buying a copy of the Early Ford V-8 1935-36 Model 51 Big Truck Book as soon as it becomes available.

A big THANK YOU to those folks who have selflessly volunteered their time, energy, and personal resources to bring these fine books to print!

I agree with ALL the above comments!!!! These books are invaluable!!! to those V8'ers who want to know "how Henry built them". And when the books include pickup and trucks, that is even better!!!! It is very hard to find good info on pickups and trucks!!

Both JM and I have multiple copies of the '35-'36 book. I'm rarely out of arms reach of one.

JM has a very well used one stuffed into the top of his main toolbox and I'm pretty sure I left some greasy fingerprints in there, sorry. Good Times!!! There are some pretty fabulous members here on the 'Barn.

TJ has done important stuff for the hobby.

The folks that are gone are an empty place in my soul. We miss you Roy, and Henry F, and Henry H (Henry@1140/Dad), and everyone I can't shout-out, and that's what we do. Outlive. Don't buy a parrot or a turtle.

Edit to add: The Benson Ford Research Center is simply amazing. If you haven't been there, or to The Henry Ford, I just ask why? All the DC Smithsonian's are very close to me and I've visited numerous times and this place puts them to shame. You can't find V-8 #1 in DC. Shoutout to the other great place I love, the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton.

I adore libraries and The Benson is off the scale! DavidG says he needs weeks there to develop his data and I'd love to be his chauffer for those historic research missions! I was very lucky to taxi Don Rogers from there to the hotel the last meet in Dearborn when his collecting efforts (had his microfiche camera handy, would you guess?) ran over his ride's deadline.

I praise you distinguished authors, just another ten minutes is the phrase of the moment.

The Clubs past 33/34 Ford book with respect to the author is not needed when owning such a car. It is a great coffee table book that has lots of great memorabilia and non approved accessories and it great to look through; but really lacks actual information pertaining to the car like other Club books do.
