1929 roadster body question?

2 Attachment(s)
Can anyone please show or explain the proper order for fitting the rear quarter panel to the back panel below the rumble lid, with the hinge support and t strip.Which one goes next to each other to fit properly. I am working with some Brooksville Roadster parts that have no old marks to help me out. Thanks

Re: 1929 roadster body question?

Hi,
I am having the same problem in putting together the rear of my 29 Roadster trying to match up original parts to the Brookeville repro's.

The "triangle" pieces he bought with the large flange in the back are just like mine. However the original one I removed and all the pictures I have seen look like the flatter "coupe type".

Anybody have some pictures of a finished car or one farther along to help us out?

I just did this part on my roadster and I think the triangle piece goes under the t strip. Your panel under the decklid bolts through the gutter, through the triangle piece and through the quarter panel.

Here's a couple of pic's to help you sort out what goes where. I was under the impression that the repro "triangle" pieces were generally of pretty good quality - I don't recall where the ones I've used came from, but they fit fairly well and had all the holes drilled, etc.. The curved inner panels and attachments vary, depending on whether you're going with a rumble seat or trunk. Any of the repro outer panels I'm aware of still have problems - mainly lack of lengthwise curvature to follow the shape of the lid. Take a look at Kevin in NJ's writeup if you haven't seen it already:

Good luck.

Thank you for your response. I have attached a photo of the repo triangle pieces I bought. They are the "Brookeville" style. However my original 29 roadster quarter panel has the other style attached as well as another 29 sport coupe quarter panel I alsio have.

Is the triangle I have pictured the correct part for a 1929 (40-A) Standard Roadser with a trunk fitted to it?

As always, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
