Running board removal, 30 Sedan
 

I’ve searched for info, all points to running board plus splash apron & bracket removal.
I’m focused just on the running board. Can it be removed separately by just the bolts to fr/rear fender, bolts underneath on board itself, plus the 4 screws on the inboard side underneath?
I located the aforementioned bolts/screw & sprayed the with light oil.
I’m wanting to remove running board without disturbing fenders, splash apron is the goal. Yes? No? Any insight is much appreciated.

Wow I’am trying to remember back 51 years, I think I did replace the running boards on my 31 Tudor with messing with fenders or aprons. I would use some oil between the boards and the apron, that’s a place for rust!

That’s funny that you reply. On my search before I made this thread, google linked me to a Fordbarn post you made about helping a guy remove his boards & aprons together.
Thanks for the input & help. It LOOKS like the board will detach just removing the bolts/screws I mentioned. I’ll try this evening in the garage.
Hopefully before then someone will chime in & say, heck yes that’ll work! Hopefully…

This is from Snyder's "From January of 1930 until August of 1930, the running board and splash apron were all 1 piece."

The body apron on a 1930 is an integral part of the running board. Top remove the apron fasteners on the top chord of the frame rail, the body must be lifted to remove/install.

So, if I’m reading this right the running board can’t be removed from the apron separately while leaving the apron attached?

I guess I’m just confused when I see vendor pictures of the running board separate from the apron. How does the running board attach to the apron? I see 4 small screws under there.
What I’m trying to accomplish is replace my 92 year old running board rubber cover/mat.

On early 30's the running board & splash apron are one piece for the length of the running board and the nose of the splash apron is welded to the front fender. There is a seam between the two pieces of the splash apron at the front end of the running board. In mid '30 the splash apron was changed to one long piece and separate from the running board and the front fender. The longer splash apron continues into '31.

Ok thanks for that info. My splash apron is the 2-piece with the seam. Nose section attached to front fender. Underneath I see bolts from running board to front/rear fenders, bolts directly under running board going to the braces, and 4 small screws that look like they go through the under lip of the apron to the running board.
For the thought of it’s all one piece, running board/apron, if I had the whole assy on the bench.. what hold the running board to the apron?
All the vendor pictures I’m seeing show them as two separate pieces like mine with the earlier two-piece apron.
I’m not real old, but I’m real confused!

Ok, so Bert’s website has way better pictures. So it’s welded together! Damn.
So to do something seemingly as simple as replace running board mats requires jacking the body off the frame…

The splash apron & running board are all one piece, the small screws hold the trim piece to the inside edge of the running board where it becomes the splash apron. I'm facing the same delemma on my early '30 cabriolet.
