60HP Project engine photos I just posted a couple of photos and some comments on Facebook. Would someone be kind enough to move them over here to the Barn. That is beyond my pay grade. I sure would love to locate a correct fan with a 4 1/8" hub. For 60HP. The fan on there is for a 32, and measures only 3 3/4". Lawson

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...3&d=1658266119 Lawson says: "Here are the comments I made on Facebook, just to keep me from re typing it. "My project engine is coming along pretty nicely. I spent about 5.5 hours in the shop today working on it. Mostly getting the generator cut out wired up and mounted after bead blasting some very tiny screws and bolts that just can't be matched today. Here is a picture of it as it stands today. I bought a fan belt, new and still in the sleeve. It is an Atlas belt' that is supposed to fit the 60HP engines, but alas, it doesn't fit. It has probably shrunk over the years. C'est la vie. I located a fan that is very close to correct, but the hub is 3/8" too short. I am afraid I will just have to go with this fan, but the search continues. The search is where the fun is." |
Re: 60HP Project engine photos Thanks, both of you Petes. Here are the comments I made on Facebook, just to keep me from re typing it. LOL

Re: 60HP Project engine photos Very nice. I just watched a YT vid the other day that compared the 60 hp version to the “regular” version. I was really surprised to see how much smaller it was. It was a one of the earlier versions with the welded on stainless steel water jacket plates. Really interesting to see.

Re: 60HP Project engine photos A job well done!!! It looks great and it’s clear you’ve been going to great lengths for authenticity.

Re: 60HP Project engine photos Lawson, I hope the "Yellow Flies" weren't as bad as the day we were to meet at your shop, I've never seen that many yellow flies swarm something as they did my car when we pulled up!!!! Those beast are vicious. They've pretty well kept me from my shop for about a month and a half down here!!!

Re: 60HP Project engine photos Lawson, Seriously, this looks very nice.
Carburetor is waaaay to "gold". It should match the finish you have on your fuel pump. |
Re: 60HP Project engine photos Very NICE Lawson. I love it. Are you going to install it in something? I've missed some of your posts. An engine builder here cut his teeth on a 60. Ended up building race & marine
C---y engines, and a few Fords to include an 8CM which you could not hear running. |

Re: 60HP Project engine photos Looks really good - love it! I've never built a V8-60, though I know where a few of them are and my friend has a NOS block (the better cast version). He'd probably sell it if somebody really wants to build one (like for a midget).

The carb was a great donation to the project by a barner. It was an extremely clean specimen. I do not know its history, and I am not a carburetor guru, but it appeared to me as being in original condition. The carburetor was freshened up by Charlie NY, "the master" when it comes to all things carburetor. I do not know exactly what Charlie did to it but, color wise, it is the same as it was when I received it and sent it to Charlie. Beyond that I cannot comment further. Thanks to the donor and Charlie for their contributions to the project |
