original '29 coupe trunk floor pan 1 Attachment(s)
Just wondering if anyone has really good pictures of an "original" trunk floor panel. Mine is all beat up. I'd like to be able to see the bead shape and detail that's stamped into the large top flat area shown in the picture.
Bead width and depth would be great too, but not a deal breaker. I know this panel is available to buy. I also know they don't have the same bead detail as the original ones have. So i'm planning on making one from scratch using 20 gauge steel and a hammer form. I've made other parts using this method and it works. I just need to know what the original looked like when Henry made it. Pictures? must be an original panel. No repro Thanks. |

Here are some pictures of an original trunk/rumble platform.

Re: original '29 coupe trunk floor pan Thanks Rusty. Those pics show details that i desperately needed.
Can i trouble you to measure the width and depth of the bead on the rumble seat platform? I think the width is 1" but not sure how high the bead rises up. The other beads on the sides and front of my panel are pretty good so i'm ok on those, i think. |
Re: original '29 coupe trunk floor pan There are two different seat riser/floor panels available. One is relatively accurate but more expensive that the other. If an original is worth saving, I patch it with hand formed 1008 cold rolled steel of the same gauge. The original parts are always better than any reproduction but some are closer than others. here is a Bratton's link.

Re: original '29 coupe trunk floor pan The pictures I posted are of a friends platform I no longer have access to. However, I do have an original platform in the attic I can measure the height and width of the stiffening ribs on the top part. It might take a day or two to get the measurements.

Re: original '29 coupe trunk floor pan I measured the original trunk platform that was in my coupe, but ruined when someone cut two wide slots to make a bed in the coupe into a crude pickup. The width for the protruding stiffening ribs are .9" wide. The ribs are not very tall at about 3/16". Hope this helps.
