30 P/U - locking passenger handle removal - it's locked!

Helping my friend Nick disassembl his cab and doors; the locking RH door handle is locked and he has no keys, and we can't figure out how to remove it for further door disassembly.
Trying to strip down the doors : regulators, glass and channels, Door handles and finally the undercoating inside the skins - but we're stuck at this point and need some help. Thanks

You need to be able to turn the handle aprox. 45 deg. To pull out and being locked prevents that. No way to unlock it without the key as it's not the latch mechanism in the door it's the cylinder in the handle that's locked preventing it from turning. Try a mobile locksmith to pick the lock and make a key or as a last resort you could drill the cylinder out but that pretty much ruins the handle

I think you could take a putty knife or small screwdriver between the door and B pillar
and push the striker back to open the door.

I was able to get the door open and we have been playing with the hex shaft for
a few hours; seems that I might be able to get a Dremel tool and a 1/8" carbide
cutter in there and work on the retainer, thin it out and bend it up and around the
slot in the shaft. As suggested, normally I would just drill out the cylinder but I am
trying to save the mechanism because it's very nice. we'll keep at it for a while.

There should be a number stamped into the square shaft that operates the lock. The number is A XXXX. If you quote that number, a good locksmith can make you a key. I had a friend in Arizona have it done for me.

I suppose that before we start grinding or drilling we can take the door off and
bring it to a local lock smith - once the hinge pins are finally removable . Thanks

An old trick is to use 2 shingle nails (not roofing nails) in the lock cylinder to turn it.

The lock works with a number of pins (tumblers). You can rake the tumblers with a straightened bobby pin while you put some torque on the lock with a screw driver. The tumblers will stick in the open position as they are raked. It will take some practice to make this work but it will work.
