Battery I need a new battery and my local auto store has one. My question is should I buy it there or go to a farm supply store that sells more 6 volt batteries and do they have a date code on them.

Re: Battery they do have date codes. question comes down to what you want to spend?
55. at rural king and over 250. for an optima and every price in between. |
Re: Battery The cost is 110 with the trade in

Re: Battery That's about market value for a non-Optima 6V right now. Rural King and Fleet Farm list batteries for less, but they're often out of stock. Tractor Supply's 6V batteries are about $110 now. Call before you go.

Re: Battery Picked one up last year in Wisconsin at Farm & Fleet for $56.00, sold it this week and since I am going to be back in Wisconsin in a week called and the same battery now is on sale for $72.00 so will take a core with me as down here they are all over $100.00 plus. So if you have Farm & Fleet near by better go over and get one at a good price. A number of years ago they were $25.00 for the Model A

Re: Battery My Fordor had an Optima 6V in it in 2019 when my friend bought it. It cranked fine, even though I hadn't a clue what I was doing. I ran it dead trying to crank her that winter, it sat dead about 15 months, until spring of 2021. I did a slow deep charge, been using it since with no problem. Snyders has them cheaper than anyone else. I'm sold on the dry cell Optima.

Re: Battery I got mine at Rural King, 50-some dollars......Works great, 5 yrs old and still going strong.

Re: Battery We have Tractor Supply down in this country but prices are about the same as O'reilly's. Dry charged is the best way to get them but most folks want to buy them ready to go rather than mess with filling the cells with electrolyte and top charging them. They run around $105 at Oreilly's before tax but the Tractor Supply battery is a bit more expensive.

Re: Battery an interesting side note regarding cores
NJ core is around 12. NY core is about 5. guess it goes by state fees |
Re: Battery I replaced mine at Auto Zone yesterday $101.00. Tractor supply did not have one in stock. They only have a 1 year warranty on them. My last one lasted 6 years. Don't ask me how.
|
Re: Battery My A also has an Autozone battery. Bought it about 2 years ago for about $80/90. I cant go anywhere without passing an auto zone here it seems like. I figured if ever I needed to warranty the battery it should be fairly easy to do with auto zone.

Re: Battery 1 Attachment(s)
The things that matter the most when replacing a battery are 1) cost, 2) case size and 3) cold cranking amps (CCA).

Re: Battery My best friend used to own a battery store. She says the date of manufacture is on the battery somewhere. It might be tricky to read though...
YouTube: How old is a car battery? Read car battery date code |
Re: Battery You will never regret spending the extra for a 6V Optima, but somewhere I read they are hard to find right now.

Re: Battery I 2 optima batteries they both had problems Orielley's said batteries were made in Mexico and poor quality I buy 6 volt from Batteries plus bulbs about $100 +$$ our TSC no longer carries 6v no source havable I had to buy 2 12V batteries for my diesel pickup today, Wow what a shock$$$$

Re: Battery I went through two 6v group 1's in 4 years, both from Auto Zone. I bought an Optima 6v last year and I really like it. Unfortunately I had to buy it from the place I hate the most, NAPA.
