'30 - '31 Roadster wiper motor I just recently purchased a 1930 Deluxe Roadster and noticed that it didn't have a wiper motor. The wooden header above the windshield looks like it is notched and has provisions for 2 motors. I don't see anything listed by any of the vendors for such an animal. If you have the correct setup on your car, could you post some photos? Appreciate it very much!!

Re: '30 - '31 Roadster wiper motor Hello, the header is made like that to accept a wiper on either side, depending if it is right or left hand drive. Most of the Roadsters I have seen have a Trico vacuum wiper, chrome plate on deluxe. This would be the 1930 -31 models. Repro are available.

Re: '30 - '31 Roadster wiper motor 2 Attachment(s)
According to Model A Judging Standards publication by MAFCA, 1930 open models used Owen-Dyneto electric wiper motors up to June 1930 then switched to Trico vacuum wiper motors. Pictured motors were those used on open models.

Re: '30 - '31 Roadster wiper motor The DeLuxe was introduced in August of 30,so the electric wouldn't apply to one of those.I had a June of 30 standard with 28000 miles on it,and was an unmolested car. That car had a vacuum wiper, and had all the original piping, with all the original clips in place.I didn't know repros were being made again.

Re: '30 - '31 Roadster wiper motor dpson,
Your photo is exactly what I was looking for. My car has a wire running up to where there should be a wiper motor, but my car didn't have one, so I didn't know how the motor was attached to the car. I now see that they used a motor that clamped onto the upper windshield frame as shown in your photo. Guess I'll be trying to track one down. Thanks again! |
Re: '30 - '31 Roadster wiper motor In the photo it looks like the motor is just fastened to the clamps.
