VanNorman 777 Boring Machine in action

Here's an intersting video on how to set up and bore a block with a VanNorman 777. I remember in 1963 I had a Ford flathead block bored to 3 3/8. Cost was $5 per hole. Those were the days. Twenty years old and making $1.15 per hour at Grand Union Super Market in Poughkeepsie NY.

When life and things appeared to be simple and uncomplicated I seemed to think. 1963 was still at high school a tender 14 year old.

To bore a block to 3 5/16 usually took all day, had a 9444 bar and got a 100 bucks for doing it. Then sent it out to have the pistons fit. another 40 bucks.
