Re: Ecklers Cancels order Try Third Gen in TN. V8 Ford sales in SC.
For example. The 32-35 air line gas gauge kit has been out for quite awhile. It took all day calling (a week ago)every Vintage Ford parts stores and I found 1 in OK.Probably last one in captivity. |

And I'd bet that calling all day from Southern FRANCE ain't cheap! Coop |
Re: Ecklers Cancels order Eaton Detroit Spring has a poster on website saying if you ordered springs through Ecklers, you are in for a wait. They haven't paid Eaton. FWIW.

Re: Ecklers Cancels order .
I can't begin to count the number of times I have commented on their "SERVICE ?", and note that I have never been able to use the term 'good' along with the word "service". They're most-infamous for their shipping costs, as well as self-generating orders for folks already having an account with them. Or how about the guy in New Zealand having the WRONG part packed by this Florida outfit and shipped to him (at an exorbitant rate). Upon delivery, discovered wrong part shipped. Customer told to re-pack and ship back to Florida - AT HIS OWN EXPENSE! Only then, to be charged exorbitant shipping AGAIN - all for their inability to process order properly in first place. And NOW....they ain't paying the bills....and blaming unavailability of parts on supplier who CLEARLY has cut them off. I suppose that this is not what 'THEY' would call "lying", but it sure does rate right up there with telling the truth four or five different ways. This "SERVICE ?" has been going-on so long now that I permanently 'FIRED' this bunch of folks from my 'go-to' list when trying to get Corvette parts correctly ordered & delivered back in 1991! Don't understand how they have remained in business all this time! Furthermore, I don't understand why some of our friends here continue using them, only to be greeted by further disappointment and grief. Coop . |

I use their catalogs for reference use only now. Too bad, as I loved it when they were only 75 minutes from my home in upstate NY. I went there countless times, it was nice to see the items before purchasing them. Some were good quality. Others, not so much! - F F |
Re: Ecklers Cancels order I bought some small items from Mac’s years ago but quit using them because of quality issues. But several months ago, when I replaced the Mallory distributor on my ’34 roadster with an original type I needed a vacuum line and couldn’t find one anywhere else. The price was fair, the service was quick, and the vacuum line was perfect and was even bent correctly. Go figure.
I just checked. The vacuum line was purchased on 06/11/2021 and cost $27.42 which included sales tax and delivery. I guess I was lucky. |
Re: Ecklers Cancels order Let's face it; the hobby is shrinking and the big companies that are servicing it for profit are going to be going by the wayside as the money to be made becomes less and less. Better we stick with the guys that are in it for the love of the hobby. Mac Van Pelt and Third Gen are prime examples.

Re: Ecklers Cancels order Several years ago, I bought a clevis and rod for between the clutch pedal and the throwout arm from Mac's. Threads on both pieces were TERRIBLE. A while later the good wife and I were passing through Lockport on vacation. I stopped by and told my tale to a counter person. They told me I must have gotten the only ones that were bad. Well, at least I have a 7/16-20 tap and die now.

That's probably the best answer. The bulk of the car hobby is people with a little extra money restoring and supporting the cars they remember when they were 16. Assuming flatheads disappeared from the used car market by the time they were 10 years old, well, not many of us who went to high school after the mid 60's remember seeing them on the street. Car shows yes, but probably not the high school parking lot. The peak now is probably cars from the 70's and by the time you get into the cars of the late 70's, the 80's and the 90's, I can't imagine too many people thinking of them with much fondness. A few maybe, but not that many. Has anyone seen a hot rod Chevy Citation or Chrysler K-car recently? I actually do see people in their 20's at car shows but as often as not they'll have a survivor import sports car or just a late model used car with aftermarket wheels and graphics. Just like we did when we liked cars but didn't have the income to support anything but a daily driver. Can't say what Eckler's motives are; probably survival. It doesn't look good. They probably overshot demand and have a lot of money tied up in inventories of cheap parts that will never sell. |
Re: Ecklers Cancels order question is did you get a refund or just store credit if any

Re: Ecklers Cancels order Quote:
I called Snyders to check on availability of Model T kick and door panels. They were out of stock, but said they bought them from Cartouche since LB closed.. They said that I would get it quicker if I ordered from Cartouche directly. On that addvice I ordered a set by phone. The lady was very helpful and I received the panels in 4 days. Quality was good. So I guess the Cartouche part is still OK. John |
