Random thoughts while block sanding

If memory serves me correctly Ford used brass nuts on exhaust manifolds, but what kind of washer was used between the nut and manifold, if any?

Was the generator end plate for 39, with the round holes for ventilation, left bare aluminum, or painted black as was the generator body? I've seen both on concourse vehicles.

Was the fan belt black. or brown for 39? In one archive photo it appears to be brown. (At least of lighter color than were the radiator hoses.)

Were the bolts/nuts on the generator and starter bands plated or raven finish? What about the attaching screws for the generator cut out?
