Flathead Ted brake kit I am overhauling the brakes on my 1936 Ford Tudor sedan and am going to install Flathead Ted's floating brake kit. His instructions, and warnings, say leave the upper brake shoe spring off. It seems a little strange to me. What results have you had with the spring installed and, left off.

Re: Flathead Ted brake kit I installed flathead Teds on my 36 without the top spring. I’m still trying to get the brakes adjusted properly. Either they are to loose or they seem to be properly adjusted, but just when I think they are adjusted correctly they seem to bind…the car won’t roll on an incline. When that happens, if I back the car up a little, they free up. I’m still tinkering with them. My buddies recommend taking them off and putting on hydraulics, but I haven’t given up on the mechanical brakes yet. Please post how yours work out!
