I understand that the '33'34 fuel sender & fuel tank has a different threaded-hole pattern, so an electric fuel sender is not adaptable.(for use as an auxilliary fuel gauge.)

Bob Drake sells an adapter.The original gas gauge works well if gauge sight lube and air line is clear,with the orig sender and correct fluid.

Thank you for that info. Since I last posted, I spoke to Bruce Abbott @ Abbott Instrument Restoration, Portland, Oregon. 503-246-1287. Very knowledgeable.

I was concerned about the toxicity of the red-dyed fluid. (they dye the fluid)

Be sure of NO DRIPS when filling the CLEANED clear glass tube. NO DRIPS.

Drips = irreversible damage to the dripped-upon.

*clean clear air line.

The fluid is added to the rear of the gauge into the hex brass tube, once the glass gauge reads exactly empty stop adding. Then reconnect the small copper air tube to the top of the hex brass tube. Yes the fluid is corrosive and possibly carcinogenic, so wear gloves and be careful since very little goes into the hex brass tube.

This 'fluid' is downright flat-out horrifying. I need an expert filler, =a dreamer's wish.

The Drake fuel sender converter item = a way to circumvent the 'red'.( and roll up a two-inch+- long piece of red construction paper & place in the glass fuel gauge tube so it appears as "the real thing."is in there!

Removing the speedometer gives you easier access.I suggest you remove the gauge to service it on the bench.If you have a dualtemp that is another story. I use an eyedropper to fill the fluid.

I use a hypodermic syringe and needle to fill the gauge, as Deuce lover says, removed and on the bench. Fill to the bottom mark [empty]and reinstall. Re-connect air line from tank. Driving the vehicle will allow the gauge to correctly indicate fuel level in tank.
