The consensus on this vehicle that sold March 3rd was that it most likely not #2 @ https://www.mtfca.com/phpBB3/viewtop...s+%232#p206561 Yet it sold today for what is likely a record price for a Model T The Auction Link: @ https://www.bonhams.com/auction/2732...2-see-catalog/ Jim |
Re: Record Bonham Model T Sale - $246,400 That rather large corrosion spot next to the double stamp #2 makes for a head scratcher. While I think it is a very nice early model T, I could never justify the price it sold for. No worries though. It is what it is no matter what I or others think about it. If some one wants it that bad then more power to them.
I always looked to the model T to be the low price car which makes them affordable to restore to a good degree for the folks with lots of time on their hands but not so much money to spend. I'd stick with the later ones though since they made a lot more of them at Highland Park than they ever thought of making at the Piquette Road plant. |
Re: Record Bonham Model T Sale - $246,400 The value of my ‘25 Coupe went up $6 yesterday when I filled it up with gas! :)

Re: Record Bonham Model T Sale - $246,400 Even if that is number 2, that's a lot of money for a Model T, however, it's only worth what someone's willing to pay, I guess. I've got a 09 and 27, first and last, but if I had the scratch and could buy number 2 for a little over a quarter of a big one, I'd pop for it. Rather have a 1934 Packard v-12 for the same money though. Talk about high gas prices....come on guys...I don't mean to sound like a big shot, but when it comes to putting gas in any of my antique cars and driving them, which is my best passion at my age, I don't give a damn how much a gallon of gas goes up to! What I do care about is being able to buy gas period! What would it be like if you had to wait an hour in line to buy gas and they would only sell you 2 gallons at one time. Couldn't drive very many cars around, could we. Be grateful gas is still available, regardless of the price. If it's too high for you, sell the cars and buy a bicycle.
