OH NO: Apatchy is "sick"

I have never had this happen before. I haven't cranked Apatchy in a few weeks so I decided to crank him up and let him warm up on such a beautiful day. I cranked him up and he will only run for about 10-15 seconds, then dies. Repeated process 2-3 times, same results. Charley NY went through my carb just recently. O haven't run it but once or twice since then. New Charlie built fuel pump. I tried giving it a teaspoon of Paregoric, but no help. (Just kiddin' Paregoric used to bake our kids "all Better" back in the day.) Any ideas what might be ailin' my baby? Lawson

Re: OH NO: Apatchy is "sick"

When it quits, take the top off your carb and check for fuel in the float bowl. If no fuel and all connections are airtight, your flex line may be collapsed, preventing more than an initial few pump strokes of the pump. If fuel level looks decent, look for debris that’s getting sucked up to and closing off your main jets. Once it shuts down, the debris drops back off the jets until you start and run a few seconds again.

No, I'm spending most of my time working on the display engine, but I'll try to squeeze this in soon. I'm sort of afraid to drive Apatchy in the shape I'm in with impaired leg control and not much feeling in my feet. It 's too nerve wracking.

Ditto. Short run and then die is very typical of a clogged filter.

Re: OH NO: Apatchy is "sick"

I had just bought my first Model A and drove it to church for all to see. After church my wife and I got it, I started it up and it came to a "dead" stop as I was pulling out of my parking space. I realized that I didn't open the gas valve... So much for looking cool...
Your issue sounds like a fuel issue to me also... Chap
