Please remind me of a simple way to add tranny fluid without removing the floorboards? I use STP and90weight now.

I'm hearing Lubriplate makes a near 600 weight oil?

I use a device rather like an overgrown bicycle pump. It has a bent tube to just enter the gearbox. I suck up the oil by pulling the handle and push it into the coghouse by pushing it. One or two pumps and it is full. There are electric ones available too but I suspect they are designed for thinner oil.

I just changed my transmission oil yesterday. I used 600wt from one of the well known vendors. It comes in quart bottles with a spout. I just reached up from below and filled it easily. BTW, it had some unknown heavier oil in it. Using the correct 600wt oil, it shifts much more smoothly.

As mentioned most qt bottles have a spout. The bottle will fit inside the frame rail. Just squirt until transmitter is full.
I prefer either 140 or 250 wgt oil. I think the Lubriplate numbers are 288 and 299, or something like that. It can be looked up easily.

I use a squeeze mustard bottle. Put the gear oil in that, I cut the tip open larger and then reach up from underneath, squeeze and fill no problem. Easier to maneuver around. to bad there wasn't a cover plate on the floor board to remove. LOL

Previous owner of my 31 cut a square hole in the passenger side floorboard which was covered by a sheet steel cover. Simple matter to roll back the mat, pull the cover and fill from above. Suspect the mod came as a kit.

Hi Clem! I did this to my Model "A" to make filling its transmission easier. I can get down on the floor to fill the transmission, but I may never be able to get up again. I imagine that you have a similar problem.

By the way, I am still playing with my O-gauge railroad!

Easy-Just put a piece clear hose over spout and squeeze!I use same mixture!

You know that access plate for your battery, I installed another one on the other side, now I just move the floor mat and I have a quick and easy way to check and fill the tranny.

Buy a bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer, it comes in a bottle with a spout. Push a tube on the spout and stick into the fill hole, squeeze in until it starts to run out around the tube. Lucas Oil Stabilizer makes wonderful tranny fluid. Shifting will be smoother'n a baby's bum!

Same method I use. Quite easy. The hard part is getting under the car.

Clem, I use a Marine lower unit oil pump. Install it on the bottle, place hose in the transmission. Push down on the pump handle. Works great with no mess. Warm oil helps.

I bought 600 oil from a vendor that sells it in a squeeze bottle with spout. Brattons.

I use something like this. It’s handy to remove the old oil too when you want fresh oil.

Mitchell makes the kit with a fill tube AND a dipstick. It comes with the required floor plate and is just like the battery access. I have one and I would recommend it. I'm more than a little curious about using the Lucas Oil Stabilizer.
