Winkster

Just asking, has anyone on here dealt with winkster? I checked and he has had a lot of parts for sale but no feedback I can find. He quickly returned my wanted ad for 32 shells and inserts. I got burned for 1450.00 on here a few months ago so am a little gun shy.

Gary,
I know this sounds a bit unorthodox but, based o your recent experience, ask "Winkster" if he will send you the parts first before you pay him. He pays for the shipping to you. If the parts are deemed good as adverised when you get them, then you send him the amount due for the parts plus his cost of shipping parts to you. If the parts are not as advertised, he will pay you to ship them back.

I hear that having a Paypal account avoids cheating but, I don't use Paypal so i can't say for sure.

Re: Winkster

Sounds like but a great idea but I doubt if anyone would do that even though I've been around for over 40 years in the business. Hopefully some Barner's will respond.

Re: Winkster

I've sold a few parts in the swap meet section and here's what I do. Being somewhat ignorant on parts and value when a fellow Barner is interested I first send many pictures through email to make sure it is the correct part and answer any questions to the best of my ability. I then offer to ship them to the potential buyer for final inspection and if the buyer wants them then send me a check for the part and my shipping cost upon which we've already agreed. If the buyer decides against them then send them back at buyers expense and I'll cover the initial shipping on my end. I've only sold to Barners with long standing membership and have yet to have anyone return anything. I believe good communication up front and trusting other members to pay is a good thing. I wouldn't do that with new members with no posts as that would send up a red flag.

Re: Winkster

Starting in the 80s I bought all my V8 truck parts from Bob Selzam's 'Half ton fun' in Tom's River NJ. Everything came on ups or us mail and was as stated. In the box with the old NOS or NORS boxes with dog eared corners was an invoice for what it cost....I could send the check to Bob or be a jerk and stiff him for the money. It was on ME. He is still in business and 40 years later I think the record will show I always sent the money in the return mail. Who the heck wouldn't?

I'm not trying to be dis respective of Winkster just asking about him. Since I've never heard back from him the deal is probably dead. I would expect anyone who didn't know me to do the same.

I don't have a horse in this race, but searching his posts, he has been buying and selling here since '11. Seems like some negative dealings would have been revealed before now.

My questions have been answered. Winkster looks like a solid seller.
