Re: windshield crank mechanism ID

The shaft that accepts the turning knob is different than my '36's--mine is splined all the way to the end and the end is threaded for a screw to hold the knob on.

Looks like a '37.

Re: windshield crank mechanism ID

The 37 has two attachments to the windshield rather than a single attachment.

If the shank for the handle is square its 33-34 pass car.35-36 are splined.

Re: windshield crank mechanism ID

Okay. Now that it's opened out, it is a 37.

Re: windshield crank mechanism ID

I reckon it's out of an English V8 Pilot....very similar to 35-36, but the shaft is longer on account of the Pilot's thicker dashboard.

38/39 the handle is up right and safer for a child riding in the middle

Re: windshield crank mechanism ID

The English ford pilot is the same as a 36, but with an extension, on the winder, from memory it is plain like the photo and can be unscrewed.

The 39 has the upright handle. 38 is like 37, comes horizontally through the dash.

Attached is an image of the one which came of my late-production 1935 Model 51 truck. I assume it's the same as the Model 50 and 67 pickups. Other than the extended crank handle shaft, it looks very similar.
Hopefully the image is attached.

Thanks, I’ll see if the extension is removable.

It is! Screw came right out.
So it appears to be 35-36, or English with the extension. Turns freely after a cleaning and some Gibbs.
You guys are GOOD!
Thanks!

38 coupe. You are right. MY bad. 38 shaft faces backward. 39 faces up, away from small folks sitting in the middle
