IMHO, dyno numbers don't mean much, other than bragging rights. For most of us it's trial and error. Build it to the best of your ability and find an honest dyno operator and see what you have. Or, like many of us, the numbers aren't important, it's the seat of the pants feel or the quickest car at the drag strip and if you're the quickest then who cares about the other guy's dyno numbers or calculated hp.

gofastmath.com will put you in the ballpark, if you have all of the correct numbers to plug in. If you post your engine's specs, there might be someone with a similar build, who should be able to tell you what to expect.

Putting your engine on a dyno will help you tune it for maximum performance at a given rpm range. It's not cheap. Also, if you can't get the power to the pavement, due to lack of traction, a lot of that horsepower will literally go up in smoke.

55, that’s an interesting site calculator, especially If you use the link to the heads. Joe Craine’s ported y block heads show up.

Just for fun, here’s a couple links on engine and chassis dynos. MT isn’t my favorite source, but they came up.

I don’t have any experience with engine dynos, just chassis ones. I’ve seen variances of 25 to 50%, depending on what “correction” factors were used. They’re a good if expensive way to set fuel and timing curves. In my experience the final tune was driving the car with the tuner in the passenger seat on the laptop. But I’m not a racer, just a street driver. As was said above, the final result is in the numbers for a racer, and the feel for the street.
