Flathead Manifold - What does it fit 1 Attachment(s)
Hi,
I am working on a 40 Ford coupe that is original except for paint and diving into flathead engines for the first time. I found this aluminum manifold in a box of parts and was wondering what engine/year flathead it is appropriate for. thank you Patrick |
Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit I think it's early, but not 32. 33/34 before the baffle was introduced around the oil filler area. (Round hole intro).
Oh and hello and welcome to the barn. |
Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit '34 (only) as the '33s still had the one-barrel Detroit Lubricator carburetor.

Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit There y'go, that's the definitive answer right there.

Mart and David,
Thank you for the reply. My first post but I have been searching and reading various topics on this site for the past month. It is an incredible resource and I am sure I will have more questions. Here is a picture of my new project rescued from a near 50 year hibernation. Patrick |
Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit Hey Patrick that looks like a great fixer upper. Had a 40 coupe myself some years ago.

Patrick .....Great ol' '40 Coupe, and welcome to the Ford Barn. For all of you complainers that claim it to be too difficult to post pictures here on the 'Barn ......here is a brand new member, posting pictures right out of the gate! DD https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/attac...7&d=1636671741 |
Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit v8coopman,
Computers fear me. Flathead motors, 6 volt wiring, and juice brakes.... not so much. Patrick |

Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit Welcome to the barn, that is a great looking coupe.

Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit Although I can post photos on here, I can well understand the trouble people encounter in trying to do so. It's not particularly easy, and we're not all computer savvy...most of us are old guys [or gals], and computerism is like a third language to us.

Don't feel all alone. These damn things still scare the crap out of me. I only started becoming acquainted with computers about late 1980s because my work with The FAA was making these things a huge part of everyday life, both operationally, and with keeping records. Operationally, computers are running a huge part of the facility that I was responsible for keeping on the air, and just like anything mechanical, these computers can go "bonkers" also, and you can't even "SEE" the broken 'piece' of the logic. To this day, they still intimidate me. But early-on, I was determined to figure-out this picture-posting gris-gris, and by making the time to play with and experiment on my own, I've essentially taught myself how this photo-beast works ....at least for the most part. Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit When I lived in Idaho Falls during my Junior High/ High School years, our next door neighbor had a '41 Ford coupe that was the same color green as the '40.

Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit blucar,
I think my car was originally Cloud Mist Grey and I wish it was still. PML |
Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit That intake was called the " camel Back" and was an old stockcar racers favorite intake, as it could be hollowed out mount a 2GC carb on top and it looked "Stock" we had one on our car. Didn't idle very well, but ran very well on the track. Still have mine.

This is a early 35 manifold that looks like yours but the fuel pump stand hole is round . For the vent pipe .

Re: Flathead Manifold - What does it fit Welcome! There is an overwhelming amount of experience here you can take advantage of. I have a couple of 40s myself. You are in the right place.
