41 Ford sedan plastic dash trim

Hi All,
Just bought a set of plastic trim for my 41 sedan. Anyone know how they attach to the dash, small screws, clips or ???

Many Thanks in advance.

there are small screws into the plastic from behind the dash. I bought a set years ago and some holes in plastic did not line up with the holes in the dash, left & right. slotted the dash holes a bit. can be a pain getting screws started.

Thank you 41.
Did you get them at a hardware store or? I can't seem to find them at the normal parts sources.

seeing as the screws go into plastic they are like sheet metal screws ,short and small, I believe. it's been 25 yrs or so. what was in your original plastic pieces. As I remember, I used the original screws and SLOWLY worked them into the holes of the new plastic before installation. I do know it was a pain holding the screws and getting a driver on them!

The fellow I bought the car from had drilled a hole a each end of the trim and used a small bolt and nut to hold the trim in place. The new trim will cover the holes up, so far I have only found the 2.
The car is a 41 4-door black and white police version (LAPD) or will be when done.

...or maybe I used loctite to hold short machine screws with heads cut off into the back and installed nuts

I replaced the plastic trim on my 41 about 6 months back. It's a lot easier if the seat is out, but as long as you can get to both sides of the trim the install is fairly straightforward. Make sure all the holes line up before you proceed as the repop plastic casting might not be 'spot on' (mine wasn't). I also had some rework to fit around the gauge cluster (and clock if you have one). A slotted screwdriver that holds the screw captive will help this job a lot.

Right Hand Drive Dash in Australian 1942-1948 Fords. Ford USA decided against spending extra money to update the Dashes in Right Hand Drive models, so continued using the same design 1941 Ford Dash. The same applies for the same year Mercury.

New Zealand 46/48 Fords have RHD versions of the 41 dash. The factory machine screws have a very short shank. Don't get them too long or they will dimple the trim on the outside.

when I bought mine at Hershey and installed them I always thought they looked odd. After looking at them I counted the raised lines. One side had 1 more line than the other. Don't ya love aftermarket!
