Rebuilt coil back from Skip Haney (41)

Left the ignition on in my car for the day ( 90 degree day) so of course points left in the closed position and I burned up the coil. Received it back from Skip Haney -looks good as new!!!!
Thank goodness we have people dedicated to this hobby and who always do first class work!!

Agree.
Is anyone else out there able to rebuild the old coils as Skip is doing? What happens when Skip retires? My understanding is the available new coils are not reliable, are fragile and short-lived.

Let's hope he has an apprentice!

I have thought about it, but this is Skip's deal and I wouldn't want to step on his toes. To be frank I am getting too old for this and think that I may be building my last batch of condensers when I get back to Minnesota next spring, so I am certainly not looking for more of this kind work. I will say this : There should be someone out there that will be able to pick up what he does, as it is not really that complicated.

Nature abhors a vacuum.

I thought GM was his apprentice, or at least his Marketing Department.:)

Not to change the subject, but is there a reliable condenser available for the 37-41 ignition??

Ken, I am having good results with the Echlin IH200 condenser, from Napa..I gutted the insides out of an old original one that was bad, and this one fits inside the old case, just kind of concealed the wire a little, and all is well.

Apprentice? That's FUNNY, as G.M. ain't no spring chick!

Now, "Marketing Department"? I guess that might be a kind way of saying it. The thing is that SKIP has proven HIMSELF and his product to us here on The 'Barn for years and years....over & over again! Yet George feels that we're so dumb and blind that he needs to preach about SKIP and brag about his own involvement every chance he gets. Most of us would still go to SKIP in spite of George. DD

I like the ih200 also. It's common and easy to get. It might take a couple. Think the FA version is better.

Always a better mousetrap out there that may be built. Hopefully
