New Member, 34 Pickup 3 Attachment(s)
Greetings Everyone,
I just wanted to introduce myself and say how much I appreciate this forum. I live in lower Delaware and I recently had a '34 Pickup follow me home. Except for the under-hood wiring, oil filter, and a couple of misc. items, it is pretty much all original. The engine, when parked three years ago, ran very smoothly and would start right up. There's minor rust and the usual bumps here and there, but I'd say it's in pretty good condition for an 87 year old. My biggest goal right now is to get it running so I can move it to a better work area (i.e., garage). I haven't thought much more beyond that. I'm having trouble getting it started, but that story is for a new thread. Essentially, I just wanted to properly introduce myself and say hello. Much more to follow. Regards, John |
Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Welcome to the Barn ! Good luck with the truck. You are in the right place for advice on getting it up and running.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Welcome John, lots of great folks and helpful knowledge here. Thank you Ryan.
Your camera is your best friend when taking thigs apart and getting back together. Looks like fun and it is always rewarding to get something running and back on the road again. Scott |
Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Welcome to the Ford Barn. Thanks for posting pictures in your introduction.
We hope you get your truck running and driving soon, it really keeps the enthusiasm going. |

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup jhswolf,
Very nice project truck you have there! I like it! Keep us posted of your progress and Welcome to the Ford Barn! Regards, Chris |
Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Welcome to the Barn, that is a great looking project.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup John, I have been contacted by several new "Barners" to share my passion for flathead owners. So it might help you to post your general location--there might be a fellow V8'er nearby willing to provide you some help and encouragement

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup LOVE LOVE your '34..... I have a '33. Clean up those wires and get it to running safe on the road. Check the brakes and steering then the rest is easy peasy. By all means get it under cover before the rains and snowfall start.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Welcome!
Nice looking project you have there. |
Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Looks like a great project to work on! Do not be in a hurry and take your time. It took me many years to complete my '34 pickup; and the best part now is "I get to drive it"! Let the FORD BARNER's know when you have questions. I can help as well.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Hello John. Thanks for coming to the Barn with that lovely old pickup.
I look forward to seeing it up and running and driving about. Mart. |

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Welcome John. That will be very cool when you complete it. There is a wealth of knowledge on the Barn. Don’t be afraid to ask. Take care and good luck.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Looks like a great start with the hard to find stuff all there. Get a dash wiring harness and light wire harness and you will be in business. I did my 34 PU from the frame up several years ago.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Your "new" truck looks like its in really nice condition. I love these trucks. I hope your rear fenders are in good shape as they are like hen's teeth.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup John judging by ya pictures we will have that running is 20 minutes and drive off into the sunset.... includes oil change grease job and general check.

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup Yes, welcome. Had one of these back in the late 50's. Was my daily driver. Previous owner had installed a 59A engine and hydronic brakes. Never should have sold it!!!?????

Re: New Member, 34 Pickup All, thank you for the warm welcome! I'm encouraged by all the positive encouragement. Makes one feel at home. I've already spent quite a few hours going through old threads and getting the feel of the forum. It looks like a very active forum.
I am in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. (Lots of bumper stickers around here with the letters "LSD", which means Lower, Slower, Delaware). Lol. It would be cool if there are any local Barners in the general area. The rear fenders are so-so, I really haven't taken a good look at them yet. I'll definitely be looking into the light and dash wiring harness replacements as well as checking the brakes, steering, etc for roadworthiness. Tomorrow (Sunday) my goal is to look into the ignition system and determine why I'm not getting any spark to the plugs. I will definitely start a new thread for that issue. Again, thanks for the welcome! John |
