Guard your phone # ?? Hi; Heads up fellows; Had a fake 'buyer' ask for my phone number a week ago! Now I have gotten all sorts of solicitation calls -odd crank calls and latest a warning from a stranger call that my number was being 'Ghosted' as a caller ID number. The original number request came from a Barn'er with over 200 Posts. Just a heads up about a 'Stinker' here. Unfortunately I had deleted his request.

The bigger picture is that sort of activity is rapidly souring the entire legitimate marketplace, with more and more people not willing to call or to answer calls from unverified numbers. With all forms of communication now invaded by scammers, we're now seeing where the convenience of modern communication is outweighed by the dangers it holds for using it. |

Re: Guard your phone # ?? Scammers/spammers of all kinds (extended warranty, health insurance, etc) can spoof any phone number, and frequently just run down a list from 0001 to 9999 for an exchange. I once got a call from "myself"! I wouldn't assume the Barner is the one who caused this problem, altho it's possible.

Re: Guard your phone # ?? Ross, I've had that happen a couple times over the years. Phone rings, I
look at the Caller ID, and see my name and my number calling me. my wife said, it must be my Alter Ego trying to call me...:eek: . |
Re: Guard your phone # ?? The unsolicited phone call wanting to sell me an extended warranty on my vehicle told me they had none available for 37 Fords so I asked about one for my 39 Ford and they hung up on me.
