any ideas

On my 1926 Ford Model T the seats are gone. All that's left is the springs. Anyone put newish seats in these cars? My truck is very Frankenstein so newish seats are not a problem. Comfort and fit are more important to me.
Thanks
Jerry

Find something that will fit and go for it. Post some photos of your car, don't be shy.

Rather than go original, I would install a front seat that is comfortable and has more room than the original. The front seat in my Fordor is so close to the steering wheel that it is not comfortable to drive. If you could move the front seat back 6" it would be a good driver.

The seats were a good portion of the suspension in the model T era. It's really not that difficult to install padding and a cover on a spring box to get a decent seat to set on as long as the spring box is in good condition. Hog rings and associated pliers are the only major things needed if a person can get a seat cover kit with pre-sewn materials. Snyder's made a business out of reproducing the seat spring assemblies if a person needs to replace them. They likely have a comfort level that exceeds the average alternatives.

The narrow center seats from mini vans are another alternative but I can't say about comfort level comparisons. I just know that the springy originals weren't bad at all. Tall people may be at a disadvantage but I've never had that problem at an average height.

The seat springs and cover kits from Snyder's are not all that expensive and then you will have something that you can say is model T.
