clutch chatter

rebuilt clutch and resurfaced fly wheel, pressure plate, and still some chatter when hot. Is it to be expected?

What make and year of vehicle? Can you provide more info? Is this only a recent problem?

Nope. Are fingers properly adjusted where they all engage at the same time? Improper adjustment is biggest cause of chatter. My 2¢.

How do you know it's clutch chatter? Do you have anti-chatter rods (depends on car years). How's your motor mounts?

Every time I see a thread titled "Clutch chatter" I think "Yes, let's have a chat about clutches".

It is just me, isn't it?

Mart.

Re: clutch chatter

I have found a few new clutch disks that weren't made right. They lack the WAVY metal cushion disk between the two friction disks. If you held the clutch between your two fingers you should be able to compress it. Without this cushion the clutch is trying to grab all at once. I have been there, taking it back out is no fun.
