1932 Body Mix and Match Advice Needed
 

I'm working together with a friend to put together a '32 five window from parts. So far we have come up with a Tudor subframe and B pillars, a cowl, and roof. I was wondering if the subframe and B pillars will work in the this applications. Quarters will most likely be new.

Cowl and windshield opening are the same but everything else is different. You have a good start for a two door though.

Well, that's disappointing. Would the B pillars work with modification?

tudor/4drs have wider subframes- good start and a home built woody there and then trade for the five window. Have seen some nice woodies built from your starting package. Newc

What you have there is a cowl and windshield opening for a closed car.
It would be suitable for 2dr, 4dr, 5W, Victoria.
It will not work on a 3W, pick up, station wagon or any of the open cars.
The subframe looks like 2dr. It will not work for 5W without much modification.

The 'B' pillars are a slight bit too tall as the sedan roofs rise higher as they extend to the rear, easy to remove the tab at the top & trim & reinstall the tab. Also the belt line bump out on the mid portion can be notched out to match up with the 5 w quarter belt line. the bigger issue is the subrails as I recall the floor pan gets wider as it too extends to the rear, as well as the rockers are longer & subrails slightly different requiring slicing dicing.

We picked up the cowl and a Fordor floor pan. The floor pan looks like it's very similar to the coupe's floor pan from the cowl to the B pillars. We'll have to trim up the back. We have my coupe to measure against.

We'll use the Tudor B posts (trimmed) and the firewall. I believe we'll use United Pacific quarters and an original roof.

If anyone has any true coupe b pillars for sale please let me know. Also, we need some roof pieces from the top of the quarter/rear window up.

Note that the B pillars on a Vicky are different from the Tudor, not just height but the striker plate area is different as the latch is farther forward on one of the cars than the other (cant remember which)

Don't give up on the sedan pillars, it's been some time ago, however as I recall it was in the neighborhood of 5/8" trimmed off the top & the pillar bump out trimmed as mentioned in my previous posting & of course in your case repositioning the post . U.P.I. sells the coupe posts if that is your choice at $260. ea.
