Wire speakers
 

As I know I’ll get a bunch of questions on details:) I’ll add but first HELP from anyone electrically hip with electric / radio & speakers. So new radio is stereo w blue tooth & want it as mono & the stereo is auto no mono switch. As Id like to usie original speaker front & add a rear. Can I splice speaker wires coming out of new radio i.e., the left & right front +to+ & -to- then the same for the rear right & left to get all tracks to mono for speakers in car?

Details: I’m putting a radio in my ‘35, original doesn’t work. Left the controls & face as they look cool. Got new radio & is going into my ‘35 Tudor glovebox :D. My original speaker looks good & want to hookup to modern bells & whistles radio as said will be hidden. I wanted to hear the original speaker to see how it sounds if good might use as e :Dfront speaker. Haven’t figured an inconspicuous place for rear speaker but maybe in front of bottom rear seat up against inside cloth.

Doesnt you original have 3 wires ?

If the original speaker the battery power to radio was run through speaker to make magnet, you will have to remove original speaker and put in modern speaker

In my 35, I also fitted a modern stereophonic radio contraption into the glovebox. Like you, I left the original 35 radio in place, cos it looks good. In the original header speaker enclosure, I fitted a dual cone speaker, which outputs both l & r channels, and out back I fitted a pair of speakers on the narrow 'parcel shelf' behind rear seat. Music sounds good
Speedway motors sell the dual cone speakers, very popular with, like, the early Mustang crowd, who, when updating audio, wish to utilise the original speaker location...

With my 41, I gutted a spare radio I had and installed an amplifier and pair of new speakers in place of the original one.

The amp I installed had volume, tone and bass controls. I put these control units (potentiometers) on wire extensions and mounted them so I could use them from the faceplate.

I can connect to sound via a small audio jack (under the carpet and up on the seat) or bluetooth.

Sound is average by modern standards, but good enough for a flathead convertible with duals.

Thx guys! So I’ll pull out the radio / speaker box & go w new speakers connected per new Stereo radio instructions! Case is very cool with the big Ford script across the front as is the old tube type radio / tube amp! I’ll get it working w a 12v supply & put n a proud perch in the garage:D

If you want that glorious mono sound, look into 'Bridging speakers'.

It's a way of wiring the speakers that will combine four channels into two, or two channels into one (stereo to mono).

I've resorted to using a jbl flip 5 and my phone. Carry it anywhere and sounds good. Let us know what you come up with.
