Window shaft seal
 

Hi guys, greetings from Berlin.

Today I was close to a classic car show with my 1930 Tudor. The weather was great, beautiful cars could be seen ... including a 1930 Fordor. And when I was walking around the car, I was amazed to find that it had a window slot seal in the form of a rubber lip seal on the outside of the windows.

My Tudor doesn't have this! A flaw that has bothered me for a long time. It was also the first time that I saw this seal today. I thought it didn't even exist.

Can someone tell me if these are also available for the Tudor? And if so, what is the part number, can you get it from usual dealers, and how are they attached?

I once bought a set of seals for the rear side sheaths of the Tudor, which were supposed to be clamped on the inside under the cover strip. But these never really worked.

Does anyone have a tip?

the only cars that I am aware of that had the seals like this were the fordors & Cabriolet. Since they had the wood frame doors. all of the metal frame doors just had drain holes in the bottom of the door to let water run out.

all of the slant window bodies used the window setting rubber with the extra lip that formed a seal between the window and the door opening. Snyder`s has it part #A-3401-SW there is some other years that Ford used that setting rubber. there is different depths of the lower channels there for you need a seal that go deep enough into the channel.

The one in the photo may be slightly different than the SW lipped seal which also acts as the
glass setting "tape". It looks like after market flap seal that is attached to the outer metal skin and rubs on the glass or an L rubber glued to the glass bottom / channel and slips under the outer skin, (like the SW seal). Steele Rubber has some generics to try if one doesn't want to remove all the glass.
As stated , the USA vendors sell the rubber and retaining metal for various models such as the fordor, though the mounting may be inside glass.
