From the San Diego Swap Meet

Despite the dire weather forecast, Friday at the Big 3 Swap Meet in San Diego was great. Lots of rust, great stuff to drool over, and a lot of Model A wheels for some reason this year. The sun came out mid-day and we all had a great time, hope to do the same tomorrow. Anyway, it beat being at work. Some of the stuff to see is in the attached pics.

Thanks! That '32 Vicky is a my pick of the meet. I've always wanted to have a pocket of mad money and fly out to a far a way swap meet just to see if things are different from around here. West Coast swaps always look better.

Re: From the San Diego Swap Meet

Guess today's not going to be any better. The meet is shut down due to the rain and swap meet junk plugging the drains. The low areas are filling up with water!

Vern,

In the last photo, do you know how much they were asking for the Highland Park panoramic pic and the Model A showroom posters?

I looked at the '32 Vicky and then took is second look. It is a '30-'31 with '32 parts attached. Looked very good.

Thanks, I just took a second look too, nice build. I miss my '32 Vicky project even if it was a real rough one.

That's Larry McKinney's vicky, a 31' dressed up as a 32'. It even has the 32' cowl vent.

Sure would like to see that car in detail. Black and black with blackwalls AND a Vicky, can't get much better than that.

Re: From the San Diego Swap Meet

I spent about 3hrs there Friday, and it was a perfect day, weather wise. Compared to prior years, not that much Model "A" stuff. I remember tons of it in prior years, but it has really become less and less every year. As others said, a lot of wheels this year, and quite a few fenders. Prices were ridiculous, but it was the first hours of the meet.

I had a good day Friday, found most everything I needed and more, it was closed Saturday, so decided to ride out to Campo to the old truck museum and ended up in a snow storm, got out of there in a hurry.
Just spoke to a vendor a few minutes ago who was just leaving the meet, said that most vendors had gone despite good weather for tomorrow.

We were told to evacuate the stadium. It was mandatory that we leave so packed up and drove home.

Re: From the San Diego Swap Meet

I covered abour 1/4 of the meet yesterday. Came back this morning and they were closing the meet. Two hours later the sun was shining and the sky was blue and they still wouldn't let us back into the meet. A 260 mile drive for nothing.

I almost drowned last year, so I was really watching the weather. So tell me how's the weather going to be in Selma next week? Bob E.
