Should I clean them 1st? 3 Attachment(s)
Hello again,
I found these in a box and will list them in the swap meet section. After searching ebay for similar carbs I see they have all been cleaned. These are "as found" after being in a box for decades. Question is should I clean them 1st or not? If I clean them how should it be done? Frankly I'm afraid I'll ruin something so I'm inclined to leave them as is. The electric fuel pump is a WALBRO model 6V WEP11. BTW, after talking with my Brother he wants to keep any '32 parts so for those that have PM'd me about the E brake handle it's staying here. Thanks though! |
Re: Should I clean them 1st? The one in the middle looks like a Ford/Holley 94.

Re: Should I clean them 1st? Is cleaning them going to make them any better internally?
Sell them as they are, who ever want's them will use them for parts or rebuild to their satisfaction. |
Re: Should I clean them 1st? Do NOT clean them.

Re: Should I clean them 1st? I really liked those Walbro pumps, and you used to be able to buy a little kit for them to keep them working. Not any more I don't think.

Re: Should I clean them 1st? That's interesting. I used them on my old Studebaker which needed it on hot days, even back before ethanol. And my 12v Buick. Now that I'm a Ford man I get along better. My other old cars are 12v.

Re: Should I clean them 1st? I did some looking for old time's sake and I don't see parts. And ethanol probably eat that thing quick. Walbro looks like all lawnmower carbs now. What I like about those pumps is how they'd pump up and stop. Pump slow or fast as needed. All the electric pumps I've had since those days, not very many, just run all the time.

Re: Should I clean them 1st? List as is..cleaned gives a false impression of being rebuilt/restored (even with a description, that people tend to not read).

Re: Should I clean them 1st? Unless WALBRO has upgraded their rubber diaphragm for today's gas, those diaphragms literally will dissolve in about 6 months. Very unreliable.

Re: Should I clean them 1st? Good score , I wouldn't clean them. Leave that to your buyer

Re: Should I clean them 1st? The 81 is a V-8 60 carb. I used one years ago in my Model A roadster pickup with a B motor. Not easy to find.
