Jim....Speedway shows well over a hundred different shrouds in their catalog. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Searc...iator%20shroud Ain't got a clue as to what to tell you without knowing what you have. Can you post a part number, or some sort of reference? If you will e-mail your two pictures to me, I will post them HERE for you. DD [email protected] |
Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud Jim,
If you purchased the plastic '39 del '40 Walker shroud I might be able to help. My '41 p'up has the same low crank fan as does your '39 del. On the shroud I described one end is straight a the other end has a partial radius. I installed the shroud with the straight end up after removing the fan. My install was 4 zip ties to the steel frame of the rad. I marked the crank center line with a white marker onto the shroud. After removal I marked the fan diameter on the shroud using my center line ref mark and saber sawed that dia plus an extra 1/2" on a side ( 1" total on the diameter ). My fan just pokes into the shroud, Looks good and really works. Charlie ny |

Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud 1 Attachment(s)
You should have this drawing that shows it's orientation and the optional locations for the self installed opening.

Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud Like Charlie, I installed mine with the flat side up, 1939 DeLuxe, The center of the fan is about 15" from the flat top. Never trust any instructions from Speedway. Had to trim the sides to fit inside the channel for the wire loom.

Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud Thanks for the help. Speedway one with the flat-side should work perfectly. I just have to worry about the distance of the fan into the shroud.
|
Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud No worry, it works just fine without any modification.

Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud i have a NOS walker shroud for my 40 ford i understand they need to be mounted upside down as fan is crank mounted,my original rad has a wire loom at top and shroud and wont let shroud lay flat , does the shroud go above or below the the wire loom..a pic would be a great help to show mods to the shroud..thanks/..al

Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud Below. Trim shroud to fit inside the wire loom.

Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud 2 Attachment(s)
Here is the shroud on my 39 P/U Should was off an early large truck. It
is mounted upside down and has metal stip spacers about 1" wide on both sides to mount it to if I remember the radiator mounting frame. Also made an adaptor to mount a heavy multi bladed fan from a Shramm air compressor. You have to be carefull no to get a blade that pushes the air forward. This truck was run all day on a day that was over 100 degrees at a fast idle and never got over 180 degrees. It was run at a fast idle. I went to lunch a left Ken from Cn. watch it. If I raced the engine a little it came down a few degrees. G.M. |
Re: 39 ford deluxe fan shroud Jim, In order to make it easy to install and remove the fan shroud in my 40, I cut it in half horizontally. That way you can remove the top half and bottom half with ease. I have a WALKER rad. and a WALKER shroud but, I bet you could do the same with any shroud. I'll try and post photos tomorrow.
