Is there someone available to go look at a car for me in New Johnsonville Tennessee? I want to have a car guy look at it instead of a appraisal company, as I trust the eye of my colleagues in the Hobby better than most. That would be pretty low, if you paid a member here and they bought it out from under you. Hopefully people here are more honest than that.

Wayne, unfortunately there is not a lot to choose from in that area since some locals in Paris actually drive up to western Kentucky to attend a club meeting. I am nearly 400 miles away myself. I know someone who is a Model-T guy that likely could do it however he is about 60 miles away in Humboldt.

'Digger' specifically what are you wanting to know about the car. From my perspective, any professional appraiser will likely perform an equal to, -or maybe even a better job than a local hobbyist is going to do. All either of them are going to be able to do is visually look at the vehicle, ...which any of the costly issues are probably not going to be seen without placing the vehicle onto a lift and removing components. The unfortunate thing in this is the only way to avoid disappointment is for you to visually inspect it yourself. I realize this will be quite the expense for you to fly to Nashville and drive to view the car, but only you know what you will and will not accept.

Cars that I have sold in the past. I have insisted that the buyer inspect the car in person.

If they couldn’t or wouldn’t, I moved on to another buyer.

Best for both the buyer and seller. I agree with Brent on the professional appraiser.

as an aside- an appraiser came here to look at my 39 panel for a buyer in Cali-Im in NJ



the appraiser knew nothing about the vehicle. Buyer spent 350. for an appraisal- thinking he would be able to low ball me.
In the end the buyer ended up with nada........and was ticked.

I would do it at no charge - have done it before for folks.
They have to be available by cell phone when
I look at the car & be able to receive short
videos to review while I am there.

Right now I am making runs for The EFV-8
Foundation Museum.

If you still need someone in a week or so
I will be going thru there.

I've used a professional appraiser twice The first time, I had to read between the lines. Things weren't sounding quite right so I rang him. HIs first words after I identified myself were "I'm glad you rang." Turns out he was a bit shy about a poor report on the car - maybe legal reasons for canning someone's car, I don't know but when we spoke, he advised against buying it. Second time, all was good but the report was more suited to a modern car. Some of the things on the list were simply irrelevant to a Model A.
I have bought 2 cars out of the US and both ties, I found someone through the local club who knew the car and seller so I got the full picture. I am pleased with both cars.
