1940 mercury floor mats or carpet

Does anyone make a rubber floor mat or carpet for a 40 mercury coupe. Or does anything else fit. Thanks

Nope, unfortunately just about everything on your Mercury is Different than Ford! I would suspect that the 40 is very similar to my 39 NO floor mat is even close and you will have to modify whichever year you get and it will be too long and narrow OR to short and wide AND the headlight dimmer switch and or gas peddle hole, and clutch and brake peddles won’t line up!!!

As Early Mercury owners we are “stuck” in that you best snap up any good original pieces you find. You might check with Gary Wright to see IF he may have any decent used ones!!!

I used a 41 Ford floor mat in my 40 Merc. The holes for the dimmer switch and gas pedal had to be enlarged and the slots for the seat tracks are not in the correct place. It is better than nothing. Back in the 1980's there was a vendor that supplied mats that were not trimmed or had holes punched in them. I bought one and did my own trimming and hole punching. It fit much better, but the longevity was not as good as the ones sold by Carpenter.

I’m thinking that Joe’s Antique sells a black mat that is uncut, don’t recall what year though. Maybe it’s for a 1940 truck?
