Temperature Gauge

Here's a good price on a gauge that looks vintage enough for me and has the correct scale for our unpressurized cooling systems.

Looks like a good deal that will work fine.

AK
Looks really nice, will have to check to see what's on my S/W Town Sedan? I don't like the one on my 30 Pickup, maybe I will order it and replace that one. I like the looks of it. Thanks for posting it, I clicked on watch and tomorrow will check to see which one I have on the S/W

Re: Temperature Gauge

Looks good, anyone know of a comparable low pressure oil gauge - 0-15 psi ?

Fuel pressure gauges that go from 0 to 15 psi are quite common and should not be expensive. They will work fine for oil pressure.

Re: Temperature Gauge

how/where would that gauge be hooked up to the engine?

Re: Temperature Gauge

Drill and tap a pipe thread hole in the water outlet is probably the best place.

Re: Temperature Gauge

Mine is in the water neck (outlet). I got it at Snyders. I think it has a boss cast into it, which would make it stronger, and more reliable. My brand new, yet el cheapo gage I bought at the swap meet was off by 11F. I now have the one from Snyders, and it seems much better. Guess ya get what ya pay for.

AK Sourdough: Here is a 1-10 PSI mechanical fuel pressure gauge that will work as an oil pressure gauge.

Re: Temperature Gauge

Some of the mechanical gauges I've looked at have thermal probes that are too long for the Model A water outlet. Just a heads up...

Re: Temperature Gauge

When buying a water temperature gauge, look for as low a maximum temperature as possible, maybe 230*.

Look for a maximum needle swing, maybe 270*

You will now have a gauge with a broad usable range of 160* to 200* right in the middle of the gauge.

I bought a really nice Bosch on Amazon.
Actually I bought 3 of them, one for each Model A

Re: Temperature Gauge

Ensure you check the accuracy of that temperature gauge. Last cheap-o gauge I had read ~20-30°F off.

Re: Temperature Gauge

Oh, that is just plain ugly. He would have to pay me the $9.99 to through it out.

The ebay item that AK sent looks great.

Re: Temperature Gauge

I just got mine today it looks good and appears to be quality made.
Although made in China at least it is free (Taiwan) China and not communist China. Ak Sourdoug thanks for the heads-up on it.:)
