Which fuel pump for 1938 60hp? I have a 1938 standard, 60hp, and want to get a new mechanical fuel pump.
I was looking at model 11a-9350 sold by Bob Drake and a few others that looks like the right one, but then I read on an ebay listing that this model does not fit the 60hp. (https://ebay.us/edVO7D) Any suggestions/clarifications? |
Re: Which fuel pump for 1938 60hp? I would contact "Charlie ny" on here about having the original rebuilt. It's probably a better bet than taking a "crap shoot" on eBay. It's a similar situation as the 81/"uncle max" deal.
(If you don't have an original, he may also be able to help.) |
Re: Which fuel pump for 1938 60hp? It's been my experience with some new fuel pumps currently offered by our suppliers, that they will produce fuel pressures that are too high for Stromburg carburators to handle. To correct this, I have replaced the coil spring below the diaphragm with a spring from an original fuel pump, to keep fuel pressure at ~ 2 to 3 psi. If you have your fuel pump rebuilt by Charlie NY, I know he would make sure the psi is correct.

Re: Which fuel pump for 1938 60hp? The fuel pump is the same, it is a matter of clocking the top in the right position. Remove 6 screws and set it to fit.

Re: Which fuel pump for 1938 60hp? Jason,
The 60 hp pump is non glass bowl and is the smaller diameter type used from '33 to'35 and some early '36. As Jack says it is clocked one index from the bigger V8's,,,,,I've got some. [email protected] 716 440 8952. Charlie ny |
