Does anyone know if the vendors buy brake shoe cores? I have some I hate to throw out

Bring them to your local Model "A" club meeting and give them away free.

Even for free, the holes may be worn out and might only be good for the scrap bin. Then add onto that, if they have bonded lining, cost/work jumps quite a bit to remove lining. The last time I checked about 3-4 years ago, it was ballpark 17.00 per shoe, not set, to remove the bonded lining.

Ok I’ll take a look at the holes. I think based on the comments they are going to be recycled

Once the swap meets start back up you are going to see a distinct drop in model a chassis parts..you can't give it away,and the "estate" pressure is increasing..they will only wait so long then the prices fall..its actually hard to gauge the market right now

Mark is correct in that the holes will get egg shaped where the pins go thru. Also, many shoes no longer have the correct parabolic shape which means even when you bond on the lining, it requires so much lining to be removed to match the drum that hardly any lining is left.

Ironically, I (also) have about 200 sets of brake shoe cores, an industrial way to clean and mediablast them, the oven and Anabond 230 adhesive, and all the necessary things to restore Model-A brake shoes, -and it is cheaper for me to buy the new shoes already lined than it is to restore them myself. Brake Shoes are about like Cylinder Heads, ...you can't hardly even give a good core away. :eek: :rolleyes: ;)
