Ford Barn Member Ages
 

I would be interested to know the demographics of the people who post on the Model A section of the site. I know there is a group of guys who started this great hobby that are slowing down in there work. I am 36. So am I a young Model A'er or is there a huge group of teens and early 20's getting interested in the hobby. I saw a age survey done on primarily petroliana that was very interesting. Does anyone know if any such survey has been done for this site of age of members and male vs female.

34 years old here. On my fourth Model A. 10 years of enjoyment driving them, breaking them, working on them, fixing them, reading about them constantly and improving them.

It's nice to have different ones based on my mood that day! :D

I Also like Model A history during production as well as how people used them and kept them on the road through WWII.

Been around Model A's since I was born. Was our family car growing up. I am 61. When I was born (1950) my dad bought his first "new" car. It was a used 46 Plymouth. My mom drove that car for ever. My dad drove our "second car" the Model A (it was a 30 tudor) to work every day until maybe I was 6 or 7 years old. He was a real wheeler & dealer and probably traded it for for something else . Bottom line. There was always an A in his garage to "putz" with and he passed it on to me and now I've got a couple of them as well.

Grew up with my 1930 model A as a kid. My grandmother bought it in the early 60s and then let my dad care for it from mid 70s until the 1990s. The A slept from the 1990s until last summer when my grandmother gave it to me. We have been having fun with it since then.

I got my first "A" when I was 14. I took about 50 years off, and now I'm back at 69.

And they call John ^ a "Senior Member"??:D

I got my first Model A when I was 16 in 1940. A 29 Tudor 11 years old with 42000 miles cost $65.00. When I get old I'll let you know. I am 86 young. Tony

I'm 56 and have a 29 roadster and a 28 open cab pickup. I took my Washington driver's test in a 30 Tudor my older brother restored in the early 70s. The 28 pickup is on the lift where I'm installing a rebuilt engine, 39 transmission, and Mitchel overdrive. The 29 is apart and nearly ready to paid Rose Beige. Spring is here, the weather has warmed up to the 70s and I'm back in the garage after a few weeks of freezing cold weather. My 63 Corvette verte is out for paint.

Just turned 58 and been in Model A's 10 or 15 years but loved them all my life. I cut my teeth on double nickle chevys to learn mechanics.

I am a second generation Model A family, my parents are still active in the club and so am I . My wedding had all Model A fords in it, and when my kids were born I brought my wife and kids home in my tudor. I am 45 years old and both my boys are very involved in the hobby, they are 14 and 10

!st A at 24. Have owned 51 Model A,s, in the past 42 years, Still building , restoring , raceing , & enjoying what must be the greatest hobby ever, Still meeting new folk world wide , 67 comes up at the San Diego swap , so party time, Ill shout for all those that come along to our site, ?????? Tinnies on the house.???? If customs lets us in ????Derek from Hot dry NZ.

I bought my first Model A in 1957 and only kept it for a year. In 1968 I bought my 28 tudor and spent 2+ years restoring it. I still have that tudor plus five other As. I'm cirrently restoring a late 31 sport coupe. I'm 68 and plan to keep working on my six Model As as long as possible. GREAT to hear from young guys just starting in the hobby.

69 going on 70.

Got my first A in 1957 for free, a four door 1930 Sedan and I put a real cast iron Winfield head on it. Carved 15 lbs. off of the flywheel. Tried every carb setup from twin Zeniths, 97s, 94s, Winfields etc. Over time I basically beat the car to death and sold it for dirt.

Next was a 1931 Pickup in 1967 for $400. It was pink top to bottom had a dropped axle and one functioning rear brake. Fixed it a lot and repainted it, even hauled rock (2/3 of a yard). Again it got beat pretty bad and sat in my back yard for twenty plus years until I turned it into a street rod woody in 1997.

Next was a 31 Tudor that cost $4000. Had it for a couple of years, to busy working for a living. Wound up trading it as part payment for a T bucket.

My current A is a 1930 Tudor that I got for free (sort of) last year. Replaced the stock motor with an H&H touring motor and lost the rear main. Rebuilt and corrected their mistakes, put in a Stipe HP 350 cam, two 94s, headers and a 27 lb. flywheel, balanced it and it is b_b_b_bad to the bone.:D

I got into the hobby in 1961, I was 10 years old when Mom dropped me off at the Ridgefield HCCA Fall Meet. That pretty much set the course of my life, meet a lot of great people and saw great cars. I don't feel like I'm 60, but know I'll never finish the cars I have. Dad got his A around 1962 and I found the Roadster body I'm still working on a year or so later. Still have Dad's Roadster but it hasn't seen the road since 1983, no need to fight its electrical gremlins, I just like looking at it, lots of good memories.

32 and 3rd Generation Model A Collector/Restorer. It's nice to see other people my age involved in the hobby!

I was born near the middle of the last century. I refuse to act my age even though I often feel like like I'm twice my age.
I've been wrenching on all kinds of autos trucks and tractors most of my life. I've had the privilege of working on many great makes, including many that are no longer manufactured. I have never owned a Model A but I have turned a few nuts and bolts on some. Maybe I'll own one some day, hopefully before I can't wrench any more.
