Engine mount bolts torque I'm chasing a vibration and thought I'd recheck the torque on my engine mount bolts. I don't want to flatten the donuts unnecessarily. 25 pf correct?
|
Re: Engine mount bolts torque Clem, I've never set those engine/transmission mounts, with rubber donut motor mounts to a specific torque reading. I usually tighten the nut to the point where the cotter pin can be inserted.

Re: Engine mount bolts torque 1 Attachment(s)
Tighten nut down until you feel the resistance of the biscuit. Then tighten until you can insert the cotter pin. For some reason my 40 has acorn nuts. They were there when I bought the car in 1963.

They have worked fine. |
Re: Engine mount bolts torque They look spiffy, too!

Re: Engine mount bolts torque Thanks. iIlike that word "spiffy", I use it a lot and people think I'm living in the past.
You and I are probably the few who use it. |
Re: Engine mount bolts torque I haven't used "spiffy" in a long time. Let me try:
"Charlie, that is a spiffy chic you brung to the dance..." no,no,no: That is incorrect. "Charlie, that is a spiffy Ford you are driving." ah! Clem |

Re: Engine mount bolts torque I found I had to tighten the nus a good bit to expose the cotter pin holes.
Thanks, Clem |
