brake squeak

My recently restored 36 has a single wheel squeak when the brake is applied, but only the last 10-20 feet before a completed stop. I have driven 100 miles on the new shoes and no change. Any ideas? Thanks Bruce

Re: brake squeak

sounds like a little oil/grease is on the lining. try spraying brake cleaner on the shoes--hard to do but try

I'd keep driving it. Are the shoes chamferred on the leading/trailing edges??

Re: brake squeak

Squeaks are usually from the metal to metal parts. My dad has a squeak in his Model a and I lubricated all the rollers pins and what not and that pretty much cleared it up. Used permatex brake grease.

not necessarily, shoes & disc pads with sharp 90 deg, edges can squeal.

Re: brake squeak

While chamferring, lightly run some 600 grit over the shoes and brake drum to remove any junk that may be on there.
