Passenger door opens while driving '30 A

Not sure what is causing this. Happens randomly. I moved the catch plate in a bit, that helped, but it's still happening. I hope it isn't frame related! Help! I don't want to lose a passenger.

OMG!!! Just had the drivers door open on a right hand turn and had a flash back to someone on The Ford Barn saying the reason you have seat belts is because the door will fly OPEN!!! Well I will get my lap belts installed ASAP and will figure out how to add shoulder belt to what I have. I will also be installing new door latch hardware (which I knew was worn)

My issue was a weak spring in latch...

Which model do you have? The different models have different door latches and may have different solutions to your problem.

If the striker is adjusted too tight it will cause the door to spring open . I always leave a little bit of slack in the adjustment .

On my roadster I had the same problem. The "noses" on the door were badly worn and the doors opend on jumpy streets. I welded the noses thick and then filed them into the old shape.

Yes, see above, it is good to leave a small gap of 1/20 ". Do not grease the nose!

Warner, was there anything on your "RESTORED" car that wasn't broken or
wore out when you got it. Seems like you have had to repair almost everything
on that car. You have done a great job on that Roadster.

Hi Bob!
I made the typical mistake and bought the car with a "warm heart". A "coole head" would have been better. But when I saw the car in the spotlight there, I immediately fell in love with it.

<<< This Model A drives excellent and is a very popular Roadster.

The Model A has been frame off restored and is in a excellent condition.

The Roadster has the Deluxe package which makes it very special.

This car is in very good condition. The paint, the chrome, the beautiful spoke wheels and the interior are all in top condition.

The top is new and in a very good condition.

The engine runs great and the transmission shifts perfectly.

This car is lovely to take out for a spin!

US Import, This car already has been imported in the European Union.
All import taxes and fees are already paid for.
The car has a US Title and EU Customs documents.
We can organize transport for you. >>>

my cousin married a nasty and bad mechanic that had the passenger side of his car door tied with rope, funny. Never forgot it.

Is this what is referred to as a "suicide door" or is that something else:)

Seriously my wife is genuinely worried about the door opening when I take a curve at 20 mph. She leans toward me every time. If I only had this car when I was 20. Seat belts might be a safe option.....better safe than sorry

No, "suicide doors" are those that are hinged to the B-pillar. If they jump open during the drive they will be torn fully up by the driving wind!

My passenger side door usually opens when my wife is in the car.
She is use to a modern car and does closer the door hard enough to latch it.

Re: Passenger door opens while driving '30 A

When ever I give anyone a ride in the front seat, I make it a point to tell them that handle on the door isn't for holding onto when I go around corners because it's purpose is to open the doors. I recently installed seatbelts for the very reason that I don't want anyone ever falling out. Bad things can happen if one falls out!

Never had this problem on my 31 coupe, probably more so on 4 door or open top cars where you would get more twist in the body, but still worth keeping an eye on.
