Bonnie & Clyde movie car on ebay

 There is a shot - up 34 4D for sale on ebay item # 280626612525 that is said to be one of the cars from the 1967 movie " Bonnie & Clyde " . You be the judge as to it's authenticity . :D David J

Re: Bonnie & Clyde movie car on ebay

I haven't seen that movie in a while, but the car on ebay is black whereas the death car was Cordoba Gray, so not sure why they would have used a car in the movie that was not the correct color.

In 67-68 a friend bought two 34 delux 4-drs. One was chevy powered and one was stock. He sold the stock one and the new owner drove it out in the desert and shot it all up. He was planing to get rich with a clone of the real car. I never heard anything more about it. The car was black.

Check out this video of the supposed movie car. I just checked out the movie clip, and the car was a standard model, not deluxe.

The 34 Ford " Bonnie & Clyde" car was a 4 Dr Deluxe, Two horns and cowl lights ,with a Potter Trunk on the back I believe ?.... I own one of these cars, just some trivia ...:)

Re: Bonnie & Clyde movie car on ebay

The video you watched was of a movie car, it said so on the door. This is a video shot a few minutes after the ambush of the actual car, which was a Deluxe and it did have a potter's trunk:

:D Here's some pics of the REAL DEATH CAR taken Dec. 18 in Verdi NV . Yes it is a cordoba grey deluxe with a potters trunk . It's an early car with front handles and has suffered much over the years from handling and theft . The only " Movie Car ' I've ever seen was indeed a standard and had a butchered dash in it . Thanks for the responses guys :D David J

I was referring to the movie car when I posted that clip. It's amazing that they didn't research the death car a little more to have it correct for the film.
The original death car was auctioned off in Massachusetts around 1970. Kruse Auctions handled the sale and I still have the catalog featuring it. I have some photos I took at the time but need to dig to find them. Previous owners of the original death car entered it in the Great American Race. Such a historic vehicle should have been left alone!
I know sedans are not desirable to many, however they are my favorite. I would love to find an original Potter trunk.

CC33: My mistake, I misread your post.

Youtube.com has a video of the ambush from the movie and the car in that scene is sort of gray, definitely not black. Just search for "Bonnie and Clyde ending". The scene doesn't jive with the eyewitness accounts, as Clyde never got out of his car as Beatty did in the movie, he only slowed down before the shooting started. The eyewitness accounts state that Clyde had his BAR between his body and the door and he was going for a gun when the ambush began and the pictures show Bonnie dead and slumped over on top of Clyde when the car came to a rest.

Check out historicautoattractions.com. This is an auto museum in Rosco, Il, that features a wide variety of historic vehicles, including the '34 Ford used in the "Bonnie & Clyde" movie. Take the virtual tour. It's car number 9. I've been to the museum. It's impressive. Near to the '34 Ford is a 1932 Studebaker used by the Dillinger gang during a bank robbery in Greencastle, IN. Rosco,IL, is about 90 miles west of Chicago, out in farm country.

Re: Bonnie & Clyde movie car on ebay

The seller has no title for the car, and it looks like it came out of the defunct St Augustine Roadside Museum. Looks like another '34 that someone shot the sh-t out of to make a buck. Just a parts car now.

:D Thanks for the feedback and here's a few more pics of the real B&C car in Verdi NV . Does anyone have good pics of the 33 std 5w that was shot up during one of their escapes in 1933 . Ted Hinton had a couple of the right side but the left side was shot up and I can't find pics of that . There is a pic of B&C posing behind it that is in books but the impound pics after the shootout are what i'm looking for . :D David J

This may be the wrong forum but my second love of cars is the old solid axle corvettes, the ones that were used in Route 66. I've always wonder what happen to those cars used for the TV show. Since there was nothing really special about them, more than likely they ended up in a used car lot.

There is an article in the current V-8 Times (Jan-Feb 2011) featuring a 1932 Ford Model B-400 Convertible Sedan used by Clyde Barrow.

The photograph at the top of page 77 is not of Clyde Barrow. The man standing next to the 1932 Model B-400 in the photo at the top of page 77 is named W.D. Jones.

I remember seeing this very same car when it was on display at Whiskey Pete's Casino years ago. I couldn't get a better look inside if it still had any blood stains in it though.

I saw this car at Jean, Nevada in the early '70s. Jean was a truck stop, about half way between Las Vegas and the California Border. There was a small airstrip, cafe, garage etc. They had built a small auditorium to display the car. There was a Film that they would show about the history of Bonnie & Clyde. It was nicely done without a lot of Hype etc. After the presentation of the program, you could go up to the front and get a close up look at the car. It definately looked like the Real Deal to me.

There was something about the "EBay Car" that did not look right, even though it was being touted as the Movie Car.

My observation!

Re: Bonnie & Clyde movie car on ebay

I think Whiskey Pete's is in Jean Nevada. It is South Vegas about 15 or so miles. We use to fly RC planes down on the dry lake. There was a 39 or 40 ford coupe parked in the old town. This was in the middle 80's. The coupe looked like somebody's daily driver.

I got to thinking. Maybe Pete's is South of Jean. I can not remember.
