Valve grinding 1 Attachment(s)
A Ford item on ebay has this info printed on the back.
Can anyone explain the terminology under the brackets ??? ebay auction#353086210312 |
Re: Valve grinding X is for exhaust, N is for Intake and the numbers are the cylinder numbers in firing order.

Re: Valve grinding Under the first bracket = when #4 Exhaust and #1 intake are open at the same time. The valves and lifters in the second bracket are still on the heal of their cam lobe and on those cylinders and you can then grind and/or adjust the valves for those cylinders.

Re: Valve grinding I cannot find that Ford item under the no given on ebay.
Can you tell me more eg what do they call it in the listing? Manuel in Oz |
Re: Valve grinding That's the procedure listed for setting the valves as in my Motors manual. It's a good way of doing it in vehicle with a minimum of engine turns and only 3 setting positions. You have to accept that the valves are not strictly opposite the lobe, though, which is ok for everyday drivers but racing folk want it all much more exact.
