Universal Grease Cup Hole Orientation

Hi Can you tell me which direction these holes should face , ie 12 and 6, or 3 and 9 o'clock.

Thanks,

I think you'll find it will only go one way.

I don't think it matters. Grease will find its way around the ball and into the joint which ever way it is.
BTW, Why did Ford change the spacing of those 6 bolts from uniform spacing to a couple being just far enough out to be a PITA?

Definitely 3-9. On the earlier version the mounting bolt pattern was not symetrical and only allowed 3-9 (you will notice the gasket will accomodate both bolt patterns). This question comes up often.

Synchro: Ford started out with equal spacing, BOP, until Jan. of 28, then unequal spacing until April of 29. After April of 29 the six u joint clam shell bolts were spaced equally. Perhaps things were different in Australia? I remember you saying once that Ford produced No Model A's in 1931. So a different world down under.
