I put together the same system that Tom suggested with a trip to Home Depot’s plumbing department, all PVC pipe. You can probably do that as well.

Here are mine; the wood parts are chunks of 2x4 cut out with holesaws.

I made some using automotive freeze plug, since taking the picture I've doubled up on the adapters to gain additional thickness - glued two of them together.
